Your First Chiropractic Visit
What Happens at Your First Appointment
Booking your first visit at Glasgow Chiropractic starts with a conversation about your symptoms and health history. Whether you have back pain, neck stiffness, or recurring headaches, your chiropractor needs a clear picture before recommending treatment. Most first appointments last around 30 to 45 minutes.
Step 1: Medical history. You will be asked about when your pain started, what makes it worse, and any previous injuries or scans. Bring a list of medications if you take any regularly.
Step 2: Physical examination. Your chiropractor checks your posture, joint movement, and areas of tenderness. This helps identify which part of your spine or surrounding muscles may be involved.
Step 3: Discussion of findings. Your chiropractor explains what they found and outlines a suggested plan. You can ask questions at any point. Treatment is only carried out with your agreement.
Step 4: Treatment if appropriate. Hands-on care may begin at the first visit, depending on your symptoms and examination results. Some patients need further assessment before manipulation is used. For more on the conditions we treat, see our chiropractic care benefits page.
